“Bringing the Power of Law to All” (Nyay Sabke Liye)

Law and Society are interdependent on each other in such a manner that both should work complimentarily to improve the social fabric of any society. The “Pukaar Probono” project is to combine the power of experts and efforts of volunteers to introduce the tools of justice to the vulnerable population and to design a gateway for access to justice. The team of Pukaar Foundation works to promote legal activism with an aim to drive towards change and bring about positive impact in the society.

All the successive governments in our country Center as well as state, usually made a commitment to promoting access to education for all, including technical and professional skills, empowering women at grass root level by designing schemes and policies which provides a platform to women to achieve equal status in the society and also to have an access to justice to promote lifelong learning skills for all. However, most of the times human rights, justice and education for a culture of lawfulness is neither being made a mainstream issue nor it is being implemented by the governments. In such kind of scenario, role played by Civil Right NGO’s become very important to fill this void and promote understanding of human rights, justice and a culture of lawfulness among the masses.

Also, there is an urgent need for the active dissemination of legal information through legal aid societies of different law schools and community based legal centers to develop a socio-legal culture in law schools for the development of a holistic personality of law students and to inculcate a sense of responsibility towards society in them.

Therefore, Pukaar Probono work towards social change by:

  • Disseminating the information about various policies and civil rights among the stakeholders.
  • Representing underprivileged people in upholding their basic rights.
  • Expanding the horizon of access to justice.
  • Strengthening the civil society through collaborative efforts.
  • Holistic counselling of Law students.
